Nix is a mischievous, tiny 3 inch fairy. She settles briefly atop her woodland hut before flitting off again. Quick as a humming bird we are lucky to catch a glimpse of her.
WOOHOO! My first attempt at a BJD. The torso is finished, next the chest. No celebration ceremonies yet though 🙂 I have sponged up as much info on BJD’s as I can find and it is a long process requiring just the proper fit and balance. I am quite sure I am in for alot of trial and error and will most likely end up with a heaping pile of odd body parts but am up to the challenge.
UPDATE: Yep the body parts are building up, I can still see out though, so far anyway. I have been a bit slow with the new pictures but will get that looked after in the next few days. After stringing the arms, I have decided that i should have used a heavier elastic, so I did go to a 2mm elastic for the legs which seems to be much better. The hands are done now just the feet and the head.
Wish me luck!
My latest project is my view of a mermaid, quite a bit different than the typical pics you would normally see. She has been stuck in my somewhat imaginative head for awhile, and now doing her best to express herself through my fingers.
Here she is still in the rough in stages but coming along quite well. Next her shoulder area will be finished as well as tentacles added to her head, before I get on to the rest of her body.
Hello all, the mermaid is coming along nicely I think it is time to name her , she will be Assyria, because the first known mermaid stories in history appeared in Assyria, ca. 1000 BC. The goddess Atargatis, mother of Assyrian queen Semiramis, loved a mortal shepherd and unintentionally killed him. Ashamed, she jumped into a lake to take the form of a fish, but the waters would not conceal her divine beauty. Thereafter, she took the form of a mermaid.
Assyria’s tentacles are finished so now on to the scraping and sanding , then I can start the painting.
After a bit of a break I spent the day painting and finishing Assyria.
She has several thin layers of paint to give her a nice deep-sea chilly tone and I have lacquered some trim to make it look as close as I could get to seaweed, been awhile since I saw any
This is the first sculpt that I have painted, and I was scared to death to make the first brush stroke– for fear that I would wreck the bizillion hours I had spent sculpting her.
Phew, it was almost like I knew what I was doing and all went GREAT!
Under bright, silvery moonlight, twisting tentacles feel the warmth of night air as she surfaces to sound the conch…Assyria, mother of all sea beasts.
Sound the conch Assyria, so all who hear may know the song of the Great Ocean~gentle and lulling, harsh and tempestuous, always deep with mysteries, an eternal and forever song.
Yahoo. Hope you like her.
Fayre is a tiny 3 inch teacup fairy. She is carefully sculpted and painted and sits perched on the side of a teacup as she shares the days stories with a faithful friend.
Elysia is (perhaps a bit vain, but don’t tell her I said that) a fairy in a shoe, she is brushing her hair and gazing into the mirror at her beautiful self. She doesn’t care to wear anything on top because, well, you see it itches her wings, and besides (she thinks) if you got em, flaunt em. She is draped in some furry frilly looking feather boa, and wears heels.. she was recently heard singing “these shoes were made for walkin, and that’s what I’m gonna do..” Who knows what tricks she may have up her sleeve next..
Ana, Rhonda’s first teacup fairy for 2010, sits basking in the rays of light coming from the sun or whichever lightsource may be near by. She is a princess and hence wears a golden crown on her head.
Few folk have seen a fairy,
but I found this one for you.
If you believe with all your might,
she’ll make your dreams come true.
Liliana and her pond friend (the frog prince? only she knows for sure!) has been SOLD to a private collection.
Liliana would be 4 1/2 inches if standing. She is made with premium polymer clays over a sturdy wire armature. Her skin is lightly blushed with heat set oil paints to bring her to life, her hand-painted eyes are finished with individually placed eyelashes. Liliana’s hair is made from a unique blend of natural undyed angora and mohair, and finished with handcurled tiny ringlets to frame her sweet face. Her skirts made of light soft fabric are complimented by a hand-beaded bodice of flowers and acented with tiny pearls. Liliana’s delicate wings are made of irredecent film, carefully placed over a wire frame, making them lightly posable — decorated with micro beads, glitter and Swarovski crystals.
Liliana’s toad friend is also a pure sculpt of polymer clay, about 2 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide, very life-like as far as look feel and weight. He sits silently as he proudly accepts Liliana’s offering of a forest crown made of leaves, berries and beads.
Here are some photos of the work in progress as well the completed pair …
Sure to bring a smile to your face as they do to mine 🙂
Sapphira an 8 1/2″ pirate wench, sits atop a sculpted treasure chest full of jewels, coins and gold, once belonging to Captain James Eightbones the man she knew as her father.
Sapphira’s clothing is mixed media, her skirt made of fine fabric with her blouse and remaining clothing sculpted in premium polymer clay. Sapphira’s dark tresses of Tibetan lambs wool are tied back in a silver clip, the skeleton key on her necklace fits the lock on the treasure chest that kept her fathers legacy safe for so many years.
Sapphira is listed with the International Art Doll Registry, IADR#697868.
Aurelie (immortal).
That brown speck on the tundra,
that thing like lint
on a white dress,
that’s me.
Move a little closer.
Seems we’ve been here since the Vikings,
since way before you.
Aurelie and me.
Gentle feet dancing lightly on cold stone,
watching over me.
Time fades.
We go on through time, standing, dancing,
bathing in natures soft glow.
Aurelie and Me.
